C11 Work Permit
Along with the many business immigration programs available, the C11 Work Permit pathway introduces a distinctive route for foreign entrepreneurs, business owners, and investors to come to Canada to do business.
Under the International Mobility Program (IMP), the C11 Entrepreneur Work Permit was developed to enable overseas investors and entrepreneurs to obtain a work visa in Canada as self-employed individuals. The initial work permit which is usually issued for two years can be extended several times, if your firm in Canada is active and profitable. Canadian business owners and self-employed individuals who operate their enterprises under the C11 work visa may eventually be qualified for permanent residency in Canada.
The following categories of individuals may be qualified to apply for C11 work permit,
- Self-employed individuals who want to launch a business in Canada.
- Entrepreneurs seeking to purchase a franchise or business in Canada.
- Individuals selected under any of the Provincial Nominee Programs’ Entrepreneur streams.
You will need to convince the officer that,

- You own your business or a at least 50% of your business in Canada.
- You have the necessary skills and expertise to run your company in Canada.
